Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is reportedly set to layoff 4,000 staff members in a new round of major cuts. According to an internal memo seen by Vox, North American Meta employees will receive notification via email on Wednesday, April 19th between 04:00 and 05:00 a.m. PT. The affected positions are spread across various technical teams working on the aforementioned platforms. The move follows an announcement by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in March, revealing the company's intention to eliminate a total of 10,000 positions over the coming months, with tech departments impacted in April, and business-side cuts in May. The news suggests the possibility of yet another round of cuts next month, continuing the trend of large IT firms making repeated staff reductions. As a result of the news, shares of META were trading 0.80% lower in pre-market on Wednesday.
